SourceNZ P6 Testimonial

Karsten & Ann e Kristensen - Morrinsville, New Zealand
Intelact clients Karsten and Anne Kristensen operate a 520 cow jersey herd on 120ha (effective) located just south of the Tatua dairy factor outside of Morrinsville. Their big Jersey cows, which weigh 420kg on average, are currently producing 1.9kg milk solids per cow per day and are on target to peak at 2.1kg milk solids, which was their peak production last season. Along with the pasture the Kristensen’s are feeding maize silage, palm kernel and SourceNZ’s P6.

“I really like the P6” says Karsten. “It’s high in sugar, one of my cheapest feeds, and the supply is consistent. When I mix the P6 with the palm kernel and maize silage the palatability is so good that we have not had to clean the feed troughs for over a year”.

Karsten uses a mixer wagon to blend the P6 with the other feeds including minerals and Rumensin. When asked what is important to them in their dairy operation Karsten and Anne reply “we want to fully feed our cows but at the same time remain focused and disciplined on what feeds we purchase in order to maximise productivity and profitability”

Tim Montgomerie, Cambridge Waikato
Located near Cambridge in the Waikato, dairy farmer Tim Montgomerie is no stranger to feeding supplements that assist him to optimise productivity and profitability. Milking 400 cows that are currently producing 2.0kgMS/cow, Tim is presently feeding 1 kg each of maize silage and palm kernel and adds the SourceNZ supplied lactose to these feeds after they are placed in the feed trough.

“Once the solid feeds are in the bin I hook up a 1000 litre tank that is filled with SourceNZ P6 to my front- end-loader and pour it across the top of the maize and palm kernel. They took to the P6 immediately and I have had no issues. I started feeding the lactose in early August and find it convenient and cost effective and it fits into my system well” says Tim.
