Wheat Bran Pellets
Description
Wheat bran pellets are lightly-coloured and highly-palatable and are a by-product of flour milling. The pellets consist of bran, aleurone, germ and pollard fractions.
Nutritional Benefits
Wheat Bran Pellets are a good source of starch and simple sugars- providing high amounts if both fast-release and slow-release carbohydrates. Wheat bran pellets would be aptly fed when the protein content of the diet is not limiting, i.e. in mid to late spring when there is a large quantity of good-quality pasture in the diet.
Feeding Levels
It is recommended that Wheat Bran Pellets be introduced into the diet gradually over a two week period to avoid rumen acidosis complications.
